Is Astrology A Science?

You shouldn’t confuse astrology with astronomy. Although astronomy also involves the study of celestial bodies, it doesn’t seek to study how these bodies influence what happens on earth.

It also determines the most ideal career, business, and relationships. It sounds even primitive. What is science?

The first thing that comes to most people’s minds when they hear about the world of science is technology, medicine, and physical things built by man such as houses, cars, machines, etc. Science is the systematic study of physical and natural occurrences in this world by observation and experiment. Since the time of its origin around 3000 to 1200 BCE, science has helped human beings to discover many things about the earth: starting from organisms we can see with our eyes and tiny organisms like bacteria that can only be viewed through a microscope. 

Knowledge gathered through scientific means is also largely responsible for the development of different technologies and providing solutions to challenges such as diseases. When you look at technological advancements responsible for improving the quality of your life and increasing your life expectancy, you don’t want to imagine a life without science. However, although science through its several disciplines is critical to the well-being of human beings, animals, and the general survival of this earth, it doesn’t have solutions to all problems in this world. 

Even if disciplines like parapsychology and quantum physics attempt to study the complexities of the invincible world and how it influences our daily life, they can’t claim to have all answers. That is why people turn to disciplines like astrology and other manner of spirituality to understand the meaning of life and examine why the world is the way it is.

So, is astrology a science?

The debate of whether astrology is a science or not has been going on for generations, and there are no signs it will stop any day soon. Several tests have been performed by scientists in conjunction with astrologers to prove whether astrology is a science or not. most of these experiments have been based on testing or verification of astrological predictions. These experiments have, in most cases proved that astrologers don’t always make accurate predictions. To that extent, astrology may not be a science.

We argue all day whether astrology is a science or not, and fail to come to a satisfactory conclusion for both parties. However, there is no doubt as regards the role astrology plays in shaping this world. There are very many people whose lives have been changed for the best because of incorporating astrological principles into their lives. And, you may also find people whose lives were ruined by unscrupulous people masquerading as astrologers.
